November 29th meeting - Native Client for Google Chrome with John M. Novosel

On Nov 29th (last Tuesday of the month) at 7PM at Google Midtown John M. Novosel will do a presentation on Google's Native Client.

For ultra-high performance when JavaScript just won't cut it, Native Client (NaCl) is a new Google web technology that enables compiled C and C++ code to run natively and sandboxed, in a web-page. Google has just released version 1.0 of the Native Client SDK. But it is still so bleeding-edge, hardly anybody knows anything about it. John will demonstrate NaCl in action and present how it has the potential to be a game-changer in this post-Adobe-Flash & post-Java-applet brave new world. John is a self-un-employed veteran desktop application software developer who occupies his enormous free time researching and developing the next big thing.

    August 30th Meeting: Android App Assimilation with Logan Johnson

    On Aug 30th (last Tuesday) at 7PM at Google Midtown Google Logan Johnson will present on Android App Assimilation.

    The best Android apps are those that tightly integrate with the
    platform and other applications. Unlike many other platforms, in
    Android this capability is available to any application developer;
    Android is designed for users to hop from app to app seamlessly and
    for data to be ubiquitous and shareable, not kept in silos accessible
    only from the home screen.

    In this talk we’ll take a tour of integration points available to the
    Android application developer. We’ll touch on opportunities to
    integrate tightly with the platform itself and with the built-in
    applications; on consuming data and services from other apps; on
    exposing your own app’s data and services for consumption; and on
    providing convenient entry points into your app itself.

Also note that PARKING WILL BE FREE. Though the building policy has changed and some participants were charged upon leaving the parking garage at our last event, we're going to fix that and work out validation with Google (more details to follow).
